The wall-crawling, web-slinging, quip-making superheroine herself: Spider-Woman. You know the story: nerdy teen, radioactive spider, superpowers. Fast cash, a moment of arrogance, a dying uncle’s last words. Save whoever she could, sacrifice her own relationships on the altar of heroism. Kindly aunt, ill-tempered newspaper editor, the girl next door. Bank robbers, thugs, mad scientists, corporate raiders. Save the city, get the girl. Save the city, lose the girl. Save the city, watch the girl die. Great power. Great responsibility. It’s a lot to deal with. Penelope Parker (has gone by ‘Penny’ for most of her life, trying to shed it) is a superheroine operating in New York City. She’s ostensibly a solo act, but has some sort of connection (or lapsed membership) to most of the other major players and teams in the area - the Fantastic Four, X-Men, Avengers, etc. She’s intelligent, open-hearted, sarcastic, and has been through a lot of shit. At current, she’s been Spider-Woman for fifteenish years, is not on any teams at the moment, and works as a biology teacher at Midtown Tech. Being a hero for so long has taken a bit of a toll on her, and she’s tired. Tired of driving away the people she loves, tired of the same villains coming up again and again, tired of always fighting the good fight, and coming back to find some PTA jerkwad is making a fuss about her grading. But hey, somebody’s got to look out for the little guy, and it might as well be her.

Proportionate strength of a spider, allowing her to lift more than her body weight by orders of magnitude. Increased reflexes and awareness, including a Spider Sense that allows her to tell when/where threats are coming from. Can climb up walls, has increased durability, and a limited healing factor. Is also generally a smart cookie, potentially a genius if she could like, apply herself more. She developed her webfluid (a sticky, rope-like substance which naturally dissolves after a few hours), and is a skilled biologist, engineer, and computer programmer. Also, solid baker and seamstress.
